Arden Photonics Ltd was founded in 2001 with the aim of developing, manufacturing and selling innovative products for the photonics industry throughout the world. We also provide technical consultancy in the areas of optical fiber and laser metrology.
The company’s headquarters are in the West Midlands of England. The name Arden derives from the Forest of Arden, an ancient oak forest which once covered a large area of central England including Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, the world-famous playwright.
David Robinson, founder and Managing Director of Arden Photonics Ltd, has 20 years experience in the photonics industry. He has worked extensively in the design and marketing of equipment for optical fiber and laser makers and component manufacturers throughout the world. His experience also covers Test & Measurement of photonics components in both technical and commercial capacities.
Arden Photonics Ltd is a specialist manufacturer of test equipment and components for the Photonics industry. We supply customers all over the world with our sophisticated products. They rely on our products to ensure the quality of their output so we require the highest standards of accuracy and reliability. We work closely with experts from National Metrology Institutes and Universities to help us to achieve that. We also pride ourselves on the high level of technical support we give to our customers.
To help grow the company we are looking to recruit the following with immediate effect.
Product Design Engineer
In the role of Product Design Engineer, you will be part of our very active product development team which creates commercially successful new instruments and components in the fields of optical fibre and laser technology. You’ll also be expected to improve the performance and efficiency of existing products.
This will involve a wide range of activities including:
- Assessing potential new product ideas
- Producing detailed new product specifications and project plans
- Providing the mechanical and optical design expertise required to meet demanding project timescales
- Producing white papers, datasheets, conference papers etc which demonstrate our technology leadership in our chosen fields
- Training our sales team (both in-house and distributors) to sell and support these new products.
The successful candidate will be comfortable communicating in English with customers, suppliers and other partners from all parts of the world by e-mail, on the phone and face-to-face.
Qualifications and experience: Graduate in a technical discipline with 1-3 years experience in the Photonics industry. Experience of 3D CAD modeling ( e.g. SolidEdge). Experience of optical modelling software (e.g Zemax).
Although the job is largely office based you must also be willing to travel occasionally both domestically and abroad.
